In 1995 the company won a S.M.A.R.T award to research the use of liquid carbon dioxide in the extraction of herbal medicines.
The work enables Essential Nutrition Ltd to obtain starting materials which can be standardised.
The award gave the company Intellectual Property Rights on several key herbs which are now being developed as funding permits.
In 1997 the company was offered a S.P.U.R award to undertake further research on one of the products developed through the S.M.A.R.T award.
Several further herbs have now been, or are being, extracted by liquid CO2 although these have not yet been patented.
In 1997 the company won an Enterprise 2000 for Investing In People.
